The POC Octal X MIPS MTB helmet is based on the Octal road helmet model, but has been given added robustness for XC needs. The extended polycarbonate shell combined with a lightweight EPS liner reinforced with Aramid provides better strength properties and impact energy distribution, with very little increase in weight. It is also equipped with a new patented system for protecting the brain from the effects of rotational forces arising from a fall called MIPS Evolve and a RECCO reflector, which makes it easier to find the helmet and its wearer in difficult terrain. Increased comfort is provided by eyeglass slots and the ability to adjust the helmet's fit with a dial.
